DIC

DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATION

Nguyen Van Thuong, Quach Hung, Lee Donghun

Overview of the DIC method

*DIC is a non-contact method which provides full-field displacements to sub-pixel accuracy and full-field strains in recorded images.

*DIC method follows three consecutive steps:

-Spray speckled patterns on the specimen surface to show a random grey intensity distribution.

-Recording the digital images of the reference and deformed specimen.

-Applying DIC software to obtain full-filed displacement and strain.

Application of the DIC method

-True stress-strain curve

-Identify the mechanic property of materials

-Identify of post-necking strain hardening behavior
